The necklace was ordered by the Duke of Gramont on May 26, 1941 for the wedding of his son Jean de Gramont on July 26, 1941 with Ghislaine Meunier du Houssoy, it is part of the “Corbeille de marriage” (wedding basket) made by Chaumet at the request of the Duke for his future daughter-in-law.
