Note: Germano Alfonsi was born into a Roman goldsmithing family founded in 1846 by Gallo Alfonsi, who trained in the workshop of the celebrated Castellani and later served as official supplier to the Italian Royal House. Germano studied sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and began signing his designs “Ger” as a teenager. In the 1950s he moved his studio to Frascati, where his clients included Sophia Loren, Frank Sinatra, and Pope John XXIII.
